Crescent Early Enrichment Centre (Crescenteec)
Inspired by Montessori Philosophy, Reggio Emila’s Approach and Emotional Intelligence.
Why Crescenteec?
- Small group sessions with 4 children and their parent/guardian
- Ample opportunity for individual, pair or group work and interaction
- Children are not seen as an empty vessel but as a unique individual with a lot of ideas and suggestions to offer.
- The parents, children and early childhood professional work together.
- The adults listen and observe children closely and adopt roles as facilitators and scaffolder of learning.
- Self-correcting materials which increases independent thinking.
- Parents, early childhood professional exchange ideas and views about the children forming strong links between home and the centre.
- The environment is the third teacher. The environment encourages children to develop relationships with other adults and peers.
- Different forms of communication will be encouraged in the environment such as words, movement, drawing, painting, building, sculpture, dramatic play and music.
- Valuable information on the children’s thoughts and insights can be gained.
Crescenteec aims to provide a “Heart Start” program for children from 18 months to 4 years of age. It aims to facilitate an environment where parents/guardians can work together with their children and the early childhood professional as a community to help emotional learning take place.
It strongly believes that when children are exposed to such an environment with their parents/guardians they gain confidence and acquire the skills
for emotional and academic learning at a more rapid rate. Thus, they are more at ease when it is time for them to enter school for they have had
the window of opportunity to develop their emotional and academic learning skills needed for school with their parents/guardians which can
also be further extended at home.
